Hi-Visibility Clothing Specifications Explained

There are 3 classes (grades) of garment type based on levels of conspicuity (visibility):-
Class 1
Minimal risk such as off road activities.
Minimum background material 0.14m2
Minimum Retro-reflective material 0.10m2
Class 2
Medium Risk, Short sleeve with 2 x 50mm hi-vz body bands and braces.
Minimum background material 0.5m2
Minimum Retro-reflective material 0.13m2
Class 3
Highest Level, dual carriage way with speeds exceeding 50mph.
According to clause 4.2.4 and Class 3 on dual carriage way with a speed limit of 50mph or above.
Long sleeve only with 2 x 50mm hi-viz bands on each arm and 2 x 50mm hi-vz body bands and braces.
Minimum background material 0.8m2
Minimum Retro-reflective material 0.2m2 |
